My reviews were kind of lackluster for a few weeks in May/early June. Posting was scarce. I tweeted a lot about food.
That would be because I'm pregnant.

In addition to being tired and somewhat sick, I have also been super nervous for the last few months, because remember when I posted about how February sucked? That's because I had a miscarriage. Which really did suck, emotionally more than physically. So when I found out I was pregnant again in April, I got scurred. I was reluctant to tell anyone and I didn't even want to treat it like the real deal, for fear of getting too attached. However, we've had countless ultrasounds and prenatal visits by now, and things have been going smoothly. I'm 14 weeks along and getting way more excited now that I'm in a safer spot, time-wise.
Anywho, I hope this explains a few things from the last couple of months: fewer "creative" posts, less presence on Twitter, fewer comments on other blogs. I even had to post one of my Novel Publicity blog tour stops 2 days late (felt really bad about it, too), because I felt so tired/nauseous from morning sickness that I couldn't look at my Kindle for days on end. (You know it's bad when the book blogger can't even bring herself to READ. Oh my.)
This also explains why my monthly wrap-up posts have been kind of vague. "Oh, I had a good month" in April should roughly translate to "OMG I'M IN A FAMILY WAY, Y'ALL!! But I can't tell you yet. Frick."
Nowadays, I am back from vacation and firmly in the second trimester (read: less nausea and fatigue), so I hope you will see a kick of enthusiasm from me around here.
So that's my news, officially out in the blogosphere. I promise I won't plague you with details of my pregnancy here, but feel free to email me if you're dying to know all about round ligament pain and stretch marks. I AIN'T SHY.

Nosy Nellies are ok in my book! ;) Yes, I am crazy excited (and I think it's cool that his/her due date is about 6 months after Small Fry's...I am experiencing pregnancy in totally new seasons! haha). We are going to find out the sex (end of next month), which we did not do with Small Fry, so that will be fun. Not really considering names until we find out the sex. :) And Thank You!!

CONGRATULATIONS! That's so exciting for you all! I remember when my mom had a miscarriage years ago - she was scared when she found out when she was pregant with my sister half a year later in case it was too good to be true. But my sister arrived, happy and healthy, as I'm sure your little bundle will too. Can't wait to hear more updates :)

Congratulations!!! I feel like I'm surrounded by people having babies (again) - actually a close friend of mine is having her second and has the exact same due date as you (though she too is fully expecting to go well over; her first was 10 days late). I can imagine how you're feeling, and I remember how hard it was to finish a book let alone read. We're not planning on having a 2nd for a few years yet, but I'm feeling strangely envious of all my friends who are having #2 already. Awwww I want one too! ;) So happy for you Kelly!

I know how crazy the envious feeling is, even when you're not ready for another one yet...I had a friend (with a daughter the same age as Small Fry) who got pregnant when our kids were 7 months old...I remember feeling a small amount of envy and then, "WHAT am I thinking?!?!" Haha. You're ready when you're ready :) But squishy-cute babies can make it so tempting beforehand!

Congratulations!!! I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage earlier this year. I understand the anxiety that comes along with it when the next baby comes (and for me even the one after that). Hopefully the second trimester treats you well. It really is the best! Best wishes to you. And you're kind. I say plague away with details--if only to make me feel better about doing the same. ;)
ReplyThank you! Yes, miscarriage does change your entire view of pregnancy for sure. I was way more relaxed the first time around! But happy that things are progressing so well now that I'm further along.
Don't worry, I love reading your pregnancy details! I am probably going to keep a lot of mine off of here though, only because I tend to get very...complainy while pregnant. I am afraid of scaring everyone. Haha. I am not the beautiful, mother-of-the-earth, look-at-me-glow pregnant woman. AT ALL. :)
